Mission Statement

Macon County EMA's mission is to protect the County of Macon through integrated approaches of Emergency Management principals and Homeland Security initiatives to prepare for, respond to, mitigate against and recover from emergencies and disasters, or acts of terrorism.

The Macon County Emergency Management Agency prepares for, responds to and assists with recovery from emergencies and disasters whether natural, manmade or technological, or acts of terrorism. The Decatur / Macon County Terrorism Task Force is a working group within Homeland Security Region 15 centralizing coordination and communication among various entities at the state, regional and local levels of government to prevent and/or respond to acts of terrorism.

Macon County has begun the process to obtain funding for updating the Macon County Hazard Mitigation Plan.  Notification of Awards from FEMA to be announced the end of July 2021.
